Our frequently asked questions

Here’s what people often ask us

If you can’t find the answer you are looking for or you’re wondering about anything else, just reach out and we’ll be happy to help.

Can I meet someone from your team before choosing to work with you?

Yes, absolutely. At EL Gracious Care and Services, we understand that building trust takes time—and often, it starts with meeting face-to-face. You’re welcome to arrange a meeting with someone from our team before deciding to move forward with services. This might be over the phone, via video call, or in person if you’re local to Melbourne.

We’re more than happy to have a casual chat where you can ask questions, get to know how we work, and see if we’re the right fit. This also gives us a chance to learn more about what matters to you and how we can shape our support to suit. There’s no pressure or obligation—just a relaxed conversation so you can feel comfortable and informed.

We’re not here to rush you into decisions. We know how important it is to feel confident about who’s providing your support. If you’d like to meet one of our support workers or chat to a member of our management team before getting started, just reach out and we’ll arrange something that works for you.

We do our best to respond to referrals quickly, because we know timely support can make a big difference. Once a referral is submitted, someone from the EL Gracious Care and Services team will usually be in touch within 1–2 business days to acknowledge it and arrange a time to chat further. From there, the start date depends on a few things: availability of staff in your area, the type of support needed, and how ready everything is on your end (e.g. NDIS plan access and documentation).

For some participants, services can begin within a week—especially if things are straightforward and we have availability. In other cases, it might take a little longer, particularly for supports that require specific staff, such as complex care or behavioural support. Either way, we’ll always keep you in the loop.

Our goal is to make the process smooth and stress-free. We won’t leave you waiting in the dark or wondering what’s happening. If your needs are urgent or time-sensitive, let us know—we’ll do what we can to prioritise things and help as soon as possible.

We know that support needs aren’t always static—they can shift due to health changes, life circumstances, goals, or even just personal preference. At EL Gracious Care and Services, we make it a point to check in regularly and adjust supports as needed.

From the start, we work with you to build a plan that makes sense for where you’re at. But we also keep things flexible. If you feel like something needs to change—more hours, less hours, different types of support, or a new goal—you can let us know at any time. We’ll sit down with you (or your nominee) to discuss what’s going on and how we can adjust the service accordingly.

We also work alongside your support coordinator or plan manager (if you have one) to make sure changes line up with your NDIS plan and budget. You won’t be left trying to figure it all out alone.

Basically, our job is to stay responsive and make sure your support still works for your life—not just what was originally agreed. Life changes, and we’re here to move with it.

Life happens—people get sick, take leave, or have unexpected events come up. At EL Gracious Care and Services, we do everything we can to maintain consistency, but when your regular support worker isn’t available, we’ve got a plan in place.

We’ll always let you know in advance if someone can’t attend their scheduled shift, and we’ll offer you a suitable replacement who’s been briefed properly and understands your routine. Where possible, we try to introduce backup support workers ahead of time so they’re not complete strangers. This gives you a chance to feel more comfortable if they ever need to step in.

You also have full control over your preferences. If you’d rather reschedule instead of having someone new, we’ll work around that. There’s no pressure to accept a replacement if it doesn’t feel right for you.

We’re committed to open communication. You’ll always know what’s happening and who’s coming. If something changes last minute, we’ll be honest and keep you updated so you’re not left wondering or waiting.

It’s your support, your comfort, and your say. We’re just here to make it work smoothly, even when things don’t go to plan.

Yes—we’re more than happy to walk you through your NDIS plan and help you make sense of it before anything is locked in. At EL Gracious Care and Services, we know that NDIS language can be confusing and it’s not always clear what’s covered, what’s flexible, or how different services are claimed. You’re definitely not alone in feeling unsure, and we’re here to make it easier.

We can go over your plan with you (or with your carer or nominee) and talk through the different support categories—like Core Supports, Capacity Building, and what they mean in practice. If you’re not sure what funding can be used for in-home care, community access, or specific goals, we’ll explain it in plain English and give you examples based on what you’re hoping to achieve.

There’s no pressure to commit to services during this chat—it’s simply about helping you feel informed. We believe people should understand their options clearly before making decisions about support.

So if you’ve got a plan in hand and you’re not sure how to get started, or you’re feeling overwhelmed, just reach out. We’re here to guide you through it.
